A joint operation mounted by security agencies, including police’s Flying Squad Unit, Special Forces Command (SFC), the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) arrested Stephen Kisule, the prime suspect and team leader of the notorious criminal gang that had been terrorizing Luwero, Nakasongola, and Nakaseke districts.
The criminal outfit had executed a string of aggravated robberies and related murders in the districts. The operation was also joined by the UPDF officers from 1st Division in Kakiri and cops from Savannah Region. Fred Enanga, the police spokesman, says Kisule was nabbed Tuesday along Samuel Mawejje while hiding in Bombo.
In total, the security agencies have arrested 10 suspects including two females. Robina Ngozi, Kisule’s wife, was also arrested. They are Miga Shaban, a 22-year-old male from Nkonkojeru; Olega Mansur, 35 and Mwanje Rogers, 24, both from Buvuma Village.
Others, whose areas of residence weren’t listed, are Yiga Rashid, Kiwanuka Fred, Lutale Hellen and Nakiranda Shakira. During the operation, security recovered a pistol with two magazines and 17 rounds of ammunition, an SMG gun with two empty magazines, 17 mobile phones, a motorcycle Reg number UEV 185W and Bajaj Boxer motorcycle red in color.
One of the key victims in the attacks was the Late Major Noel Mwesigye, who was shot dead while in Masunga village, Luwero. The criminals took his pistols.
“They are going to be held accountable for the death of 10 victims and an additional 44 victims of aggravated robbery from the respective districts,” Enanga said.
