President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni received a special message from President Ismail Omar Guelleh of the Republic of Djibouti. The message was delivered by Djibouti's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, who served as the special envoy of President Guelleh. The meeting took place at State House in Entebbe.

In his message, President Guelleh praised President Museveni for his steadfast leadership in promoting peace, security, and infrastructure development in the region.

He highlighted Uganda’s success in areas such as electricity and roads, commending Museveni’s vision for economic transformation. “Your ideas have transformed the economy and the people,” H.E. Youssouf noted.

President Museveni warmly welcomed the delegation from Djibouti and shared his insights on creating prosperity.

"In the last 60 years, our movement, which started as a student movement, has been explaining to our people that prosperity comes from providing goods and services," Museveni said.

He emphasized that sustained economic success comes from consistently producing and selling goods and services.

The Djiboutian delegation included H.E. Abdi Mahamoud Eybe, Djibouti's Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) and the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).

Reflecting on Uganda’s past, President Museveni acknowledged the challenges the nation has faced, particularly during a period when sectarianism was prevalent. He pointed out that his movement strongly opposed this divisive ideology and instead advocated for patriotism, Pan-Africanism, socio-economic transformation, and democracy.

"If an idea is not right, it will lead to disaster," President Museveni remarked, linking much of Africa’s current crises to flawed political ideologies based on identity.
