President Yoweri Museveni will deliver the latest updates on Covid-19 on Sunday, Don Wanyama, the senior press secretary to the president, said Friday morning.

“The Presidential Address on Covid-19 has been rescheduled to Sunday, September 20th, 8pm,” he tweeted.

The presidency had earlier announced this coming Saturday as the tentative date for the address.

A lot is expected from this address, considering the speculations that have been making rounds, especially on re-opening schools, the airport, and other sectors that are still closed.

Spokespersons for government agencies responsible for these sectors have been declining to comment officially, saying the president is the authority on the matter.

Uganda entered into a partial lockdown in March when our neighbors announced cases of Covid-19 and a number of measures were taken to facilitate the smooth reopening of some of the sectors that had been closed.

According to the ministry of health figures, Uganda has so far recorded 5380 cases of Covid-19, 2489 recoveries and 60 deaths.
