The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has issued a directive requiring all Heads of Centres to display the registers of candidates enrolled for the 2024 examinations. This mandatory display, as stipulated by the UNEB Act 2021 Section 4 (2), will take place from 12th August to 11th October 2024.

UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo emphasized the importance of this exercise, noting that "the candidates' registers should be displayed in a conspicuous place at the school notice boards where the candidates are registered, to enable parents to confirm the registration status of the learners."

Parents of students attending schools without UNEB centre status are advised to verify where their children have been registered. Odongo cautioned against the risk of discovering unregistered students at the start of the examination period, stating, "In the event that a student, who has proof of payment of registration fees is not duly registered, the parent should report to UNEB immediately for remedial action."

To further facilitate the verification process, UNEB will provide an SMS option during the display period. Parents can check the registration status of their children by sending the candidate's full index number to 6600 using the format: Reg [space] Index No.

Odongo also highlighted the critical need for accuracy in the candidates' bio data. He urged all involved parties to "critically analyze the register and confirm the accuracy of the candidates' bio data," with particular attention to the spelling and order of names, date of birth, gender, and the correct photograph.

Any necessary amendments should be communicated to UNEB through the respective schools before the examinations commence. For Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) adjustments, schools are required to submit an amendment form provided on the portal, while for Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) levels, schools must write an amendment request letter to UNEB, accompanied by copies of the candidates' National Identity Cards or Birth Certificates.
