Zelensky: War With Russia Will End Soon with Trump as U.S President

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed confidence that the war with Russia will end quickly if Donald Trump assumes the U.S. presidency. Speaking on Saturday, Zelensky revealed he had a "constructive exchange" with Trump during a phone call after his victory over Kamala Harris, adding that the former president’s policies could hasten the conflict’s resolution.

“It is certain that the war will end sooner with the policies of the team that will now lead the White House. This is their approach, their promise to their citizens,” Zelensky told Ukrainian media outlet Suspilne. He emphasized that he would only engage directly with Trump, not intermediaries, on matters related to the war.

Zelensky acknowledged the worsening battlefield situation in eastern Ukraine, where Russian forces have been advancing steadily.

Amid the diplomatic tensions, Ukraine faces mounting challenges on the battlefield as the war nears its 1,000th day. Overnight, Russian drones targeted Kyiv, damaging buildings and infrastructure.

The situation underscores the ongoing challenges facing Ukraine as it navigates military, diplomatic, and humanitarian pressures in the prolonged conflict.
