The Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni says a faulty Air Conditioner (AC) at Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) is the reason why last year’s PLE results will be released from Kampala Parents School.

The Minister gave the explanation on Thursday while appearing before the Education and Sports Committee of Parliament to present the Education sector’s budget framework paper for the next financial year.

The First Lady explained that the faulty AC and the poor ventilation at the OPM hall would make it uncomfortable for people during the PLE results release ceremony.

“Kampala Parents is a primary school and the school is not charging us anything to use their facility to release results. We normally use the President’s office hall [at OPM] because we are not willing to pay when we have a government facility. But this time, the hall has a problem with air conditioning system and it has not been working. You don’t put people where there is no fresh air because they might get problems [with their health],” Mrs. Museveni said, adding that they had to look for a better place which is free and comfortable.

While appearing before the Parliamentary Committee, the members asked the Minister to explain why this time round release of PLE results had been shifted to Kampala Parents-one of the competing schools.

Kampala Parents has a state of the art multi-purpose hall which is normally used for the school’s co-curricular activities such as music, dance and drama productions among others.

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) is set to release last year’s Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results tomorrow, Friday Jan 17, 2020. A total of 695,793 candidates sat for PLE in 2019, of which 51.7% are girls.
