Gen Elwelu to Gen Nabasa: Honor Your Title; We Still Believe in You
The Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Lt Gen Peter Elwelu told the new commander of the Military Police Brigade Major General Don Nabasa that his latest assignment implies the country still treasures his service.
"Don't play around with titles; they are very important. It means the authorities have put trust in you and still believe in you," Gen Elwelu said Friday as he presided over the transfer of office of Military Police command from Brig. Keith Katungi to Gen Nabasa.
Katungi is now the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) contingent commander in Somalia under the Africa Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), a position previously occupied by his successor at the Makindye-based army unit.
Brig Katungi had been the Military Police Commander since August 2020 while Gen Nabasa went to Somalia in December 2020.
Both Gen Nabasa and Brig Katungi thanked President Museveni and the UPDF leadership for entrusting them with prominent roles in the military
"I thank the Commander-in-Chief for giving me the opportunity to serve as Commandant Military Police Brigade and also for the new appointment as the Uganda Contingent Commander under AMISOM," he said, according to Defence.go.ug.
"As we advance our core values of service, patriotism, justice and sacrifice; you, our leaders have maintained the forces on our historical mission and providing security so as to enable Socio-economic transformation of our country," said Gen Nabasa.
