Defence Minister Meets South Korean Defence Attaché to Uganda

In his remarks, Col Jeongsu praised the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) for maintaining peace and stability in the country and beyond.

The Minister of State for Defence in charge of General Duties Jacob Marksons Oboth on Wednesday held a meeting with the South Korean Defence Attaché’ to Uganda Col Lee Jeongsu.

The meeting, which was held at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs headquarters in Mbuya, Kampala, focused on the maintenance and strengthening of the existing cooperation in defence and security between Uganda and South Korea.

Oboth applauded the government of South Korea for her continued support towards the success of Uganda’s military operations.

“I believe in South Korea since you are already in smart technology and care,” he said.

In his remarks, Col Jeongsu praised the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) for maintaining peace and stability in the country and beyond.

He said the South Korean army has acquired a lot of military skills and knowledge from their Partner States (like the United States of America), which he said, they would love to share with the UPDF, most especially in the field of water sanitation, solar energy, medical capability and poverty eradication, among others.

He also invited the minister to attend the Korean Defence dialogue meeting scheduled for later this year in Seoul.

The meeting was also attended by the military assistant to Oboth, Col Simon Peter Oyoo, among others.
