Parliament to hold Special Sitting for Ex-Minister Kyemba

Parliament will Tuesday, 24 October 2023 hold a Special Sitting to pay tribute to the late, former minister Henry Kisajja Magumba Kyemba.

Kyemba, a retired civil servant and politician died last Thursday. He served as the Minister of Health in Idi Amin’s government and also served as a permanent secretary, private personal secretary.

The Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesige, in his communiqué has announced that Parliament will convene to allow MPs pay their last respects to the former politician who is famed for his distinguished leadership.

According to the program, Kyemba’s casket will be received at Parliament by the Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa at 11am to allow MPs and other mourners view the body and sign the condolence book.

At 2pm, the casket will be wheeled in the chambers for a parliamentary sitting where the Prime Minister will be expected to move a motion to pay tribute to the deceased. The motion will be seconded by the Leader of Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga.
