Former UNEB Executive Secretary Mathew Bukenya is Dead

Mathew Bukenya, the former Executive Secretary of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), has passed away. He was reportedly in his early 90s.

Bukenya died on Sunday night, and his death was confirmed on Monday, July 22, by UNEB Spokesperson Jennifer Kalule.

Having retired from UNEB on March 31, 2016, Bukenya was initially brought out of retirement in 1997 to lead the organisation, following his previous role as an accountant. He succeeded David Livingstone Ongom, who had been dismissed by the government.

By the time of his retirement, Bukenya had served as the head of UNEB for over 17 years.
