Entebbe International Airport has hit a historic milestone, recording its highest-ever passenger traffic in August 2024. According to Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) spokesperson Vianney Luggya, the airport handled a record-breaking 212,701 international passengers, averaging 6,861 per day. This total included 108,055 departing passengers and 104,646 arrivals. The new figure surpasses the previous record of 198,961 passengers set in December 2023, which saw an average of 6,418 passengers per day.

July 2024 recorded the third-highest monthly total, with 195,909 passengers passing through, while August 2023 ranked fourth with 191,507 passengers, an average of 6,177 per day.

In addition to passenger traffic, Entebbe Airport also handled 5,410 metric tonnes of cargo in August 2024, including 3,525 metric tonnes of exports and 1,885 metric tonnes of imports. This demonstrates the airport's growing importance in facilitating both tourism and trade.
