The General Court Martial in Makindye has further remanded Maj Gen James Mugabe Birungi after his surety failed to appear for his bail hearing.
Brig Gen Richard Tukachungurwa, who chaired the court, ordered that Birungi remain at the Military Police detention facility in Makindye until September 24, 2026. The court will resume hearing his bail application that day.
In separate proceedings, the court sentenced two civilians, Benjamin Nsubuga and Benson Asiimwe, to two years in prison after they pleaded guilty to unlawfully wearing army uniform and illegally possessing a firearm.
Nsubuga will serve his sentence at Kitalya Prison, while Asiimwe will serve his at Gulu Prison.
The court also remanded Robert Ochan Othieno on a charge of unlawful possession of military clothing. He will remain at the Makindye detention centre until September 28, 2026.
