Total AFCON 2021 Qualifiers: Uganda Tops Group B

Uganda now jointly tops group B alongside Burkina Faso on four points, after Sunday’s victory against Malawi at Namboole Stadium.

Emmanuel Okwii and Fahad Bayo were on target for Uganda. Okwii struck the opener at the 29th minute to give the hosts lead at half time. In the 69th minute, debutant Fahad Bayo who missed two chances in the first half scored the second to give Uganda a comfortable lead and final victory against the visitors.

The Uganda Cranes drew in their opening match against Burkina Faso a few days ago, while Malawi beat South Sudan in the opener. They will return to action later next year against South Sudan.

Meanwhile, Burkina Faso beat South Sudan 2-0 in the other Group B match played in Khartoum, Sudan.

Uganda starting XI: Denis Onyango, Nicholas Wadada, Joseph Ochaya, Bevis Mugabi, Murushid Juuko, Khalid Aucho, Mike Azira, Luwagga Kizito, Farouk Miya, Fahad Bayo, Emmanuel Okwi.
