Gen Mugisha Muntu has met Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga over MPs who recently crossed to his Alliance for National Transformation party (ANT) Party.

Sam Obbo, the Principal Press Secretary to the Speaker confirmed the meeting saying that ANT leaders led by Party President Gen Muntu visited the Speaker where they discussed issues ranging from membership to the Inter Party Organization for Dialogue (IPOD) and the three MPs who joined ANT.

Other members of the delegation were; Secretary General Alice Alaso and newly recruited MP Paul Mwiru. Mwiru (Jinja East) who joined Parliament on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party ticket recently joined Muntu’s ANT.

Others are; Gerald Karuhanga (Ntungamo Municipality) and Kassiano Wadri (Arua Municipality) who came to cross as Independent candidates. Obbo said that Kadaga promised to consult widely, especially on the issue of IPOD and MPs who have switched allegiance.

Last week, five incumbent MPs joined Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform. The MPs are; John Baptist Nambeshe, the Manjiya County MP, Patrick Nsamba Oshabe, Kasanda County North MP, Latif Ssebagala Sengendo (Kawempe North), David Lukyamuzi Kalwanga (Busujju County) and Mityana Municipality counterpart, Francis Zaake. The law allows MPs to cross from one political party to another 6 months to the end of Parliament’s term.
