Lwanga Death: Pope Appoints Bishop Ssemwogerere as Administrator of Kampala Archdiocese

Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Paul Ssemwogerere, the Bishop of Kasana Luweero Diocese as Apostolic Administrator of Kampala Archdiocese, the Papal Nucio to Uganda, HE Archbishop Luigi Bianco has announced.

This announcement was made on Thursday during the requiem Mass of Rt. Rev. Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, the late Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese in Lubaga Cathedral. Lwanga was buried today inside the cathedral. After the death of the Archbishop, Msgr. Charles Kasibante was appointed as the interim-administrator sede vacante, who served from 3rd April 2021, till 8th April 2021.

“We are dearly pleased to welcome Bishop Paul Ssemwogerere, as our new administrator and we wish him God’s choicest blessings during this trying period,” the message reads.
