The Kampala Industrial Park in Namanve will be fully complete in 2024, according to Uganda Investment Authority.

The Authority revealed this in a statement announcing the tour made by the UK Trade Envoy to Uganda Lord Popat and the British High Commissioner to Uganda Kate Airey to the park, whose construction is now at 17%.

The tour was guided by UIA Director General Robert Mukiza.

Uganda borrowed 215 million euros (about Shs860 billion) from United Kingdom Export Finance (UKEF)  to construct the business facility.

According to UIA, the park already hosts 80 industries that are now fully operational, with over 300 at various stages of development.

"This industrial park when completed will contribute 1% of Uganda's GDP. We'll support Uganda in her industrial parks development agenda," said Popat, according to a UIA statement.

President Yoweri Museveni has directed UIA to establish 25 industrial parks, regionally and equitably distributed throughout Uganda.

This is to happen in the current term of office, 2021 – 2026, implying five industrial parks have to be set up each year.
