Uganda Air Cargo, NIRA Get New Board Members
During its fourth meeting of 2023, which was held on January 30, the cabinet approved the appointment of members of the boards of directors of Uganda Air Cargo Corporation (UACC) and the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA).
To UACC, Capt. Gad Gasatura was appointed chairperson, Lt. Gen. Charles Okidi, Jolly Kamugira Kaguhangire, Emmanuel Osuna, Faridah Charity, and Martin Odaka Omeedo are members.
Gasatura replaces Capt. John Emily Otekat. The board of UACC already has nine other members.
In June 2022, UACC announced plans to acquire an A330F and a mid-life 777 as part of a US$266 million resuscitation plan that will also see the purchase of 737 Combi and a 737-800 in the near term.
The aforementioned funds are to be spent over five financial years and the first installment was due in July 2022.
Meanwhile, Mercy Kainobwisho, registrar general and executive director of Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), and Dr. Hatwib Mugasa, the executive director of National Information Technology Authority - Uganda (NITA-U), have been added to the board of NIRA.
James Biribonwa, the former commissioner of the Electoral Commission, is the chairperson of the NIRA BOD, which was sworn-in, in 2020.
