The Ugandan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, received the new High Commissioner-designate of the United Kingdom to Uganda, Ms. Lisa Chesney MBE, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala. During the formal presentation of her letters of credence, both leaders emphasized the longstanding and deep-rooted partnership between Uganda and the UK.

Welcoming Ms. Chesney to Uganda, Gen. Odongo praised the UK's unwavering support to Uganda’s social and economic development, stating, “The United Kingdom has been a steadfast partner to Uganda, contributing significantly to our development programs, strengthening institutions, and improving livelihoods. We are confident that under your tenure, our bilateral relations will grow even stronger.”

Ms. Lisa Chesney expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed the UK’s dedication to strengthening Uganda-UK relations. “I am honored to take up this role and excited about building on the excellent relations that exist between Uganda and the United Kingdom,” she said.
