Gen Kainerugaba Meets Leader of Pakistan’s Army

The Ugandan Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba was last week in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi where he attended the country’s 11th Edition of International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2022.

The expo happened from 15th – 18th November 2022 at Karachi Expo Centre.

Gen Kainerugaba who was in the South Asia country on the invitation of the Pakistani government was accompanied by his Military Assistant Col McDans Kamugira.

On Tuesday, the Ugandan General joined fellow top military officers at the opening ceremony before touring the various innovations and military drills at the exhibition.

After the official opening of the ceremony, Gen Kainerugaba held a private meeting with the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza. Gen Raza is a four star General and his designation is the equivalent of Chief of Defence Forces.

Apart from Uganda, other African countries represented were Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe among others. Organizers of the event said 57 countries were represented by over 300 high level delegates.

The expo, according to Pakistani defense officials is aimed at enhancing world peace through knowledge sharing, innovation and collaboration among countries of the world.

The event was commemorated through enhanced participation of Pakistan Armed Forces, national and international defence industry, entrepreneurs, and high level national and international defence delegations. 

The country’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari presided over the opening ceremony. He thanked the foreign delegates for gracing the event that coincided with Pakistan’s 75th independence anniversary.

According to the event hosts, over 500 exhibitors from Turkey, China, North America, South America, Europe, Asia and the Far East showcased their products out of which, 60 percent were international and 40 percent local.
