Uganda has held talks with the African Development Bank (AfDB) on attracting long-term investment to its priority sectors. The talks took place on the sidelines of the Africa Financial Summit in Luanda, Angola.
Cissy Mulondo, the State Minister for General Duties, represented Uganda at the summit, which ran from November 3 to November 4, 2026. She met AfDB Group President Dr Sidi Ould Tah to discuss how the bank could deepen its partnership with Uganda. Dr Tah reaffirmed the bank’s support for Uganda’s development plans.
A central question at the summit was how African countries could use domestic savings, pension funds and insurance assets to finance long-term projects while protecting savers and maintaining returns. Participants also discussed how stronger capital markets and borrowing in local currencies could give businesses more financing options and limit their exposure to exchange rate swings.
Mulondo also joined talks on the AfDB’s New African Financial Architecture for Development. The initiative aims to help African financial institutions manage risk, raise money and channel it into projects and businesses that create jobs.
For Uganda, the initiative could help financial institutions work together to attract more investment from domestic and international sources.
