President Yoweri Museveni has praised Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) for helping raise household incomes and shifting Ugandans from subsistence farming to commercial agriculture.
The President’s message was delivered by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja during the opening of the 32nd National Agricultural Show at the National Show Grounds in Jinja on June 30, 2026.
During the event, Nabbanja launched the Wealth Creation Village, an exhibition organised by OWC to showcase government programmes aimed at boosting agriculture and improving household incomes.
In his message, Museveni described OWC as a key pillar of Uganda’s socio-economic transformation. He also commended the programme’s Chief Coordinator, Salim Saleh, for supporting efforts to increase household incomes and expand participation in the money economy.
Museveni said the National Agricultural Show offers farmers, researchers, businesses and policymakers a chance to share knowledge, display new technologies and build partnerships. He urged Ugandans to use the exhibition to improve agricultural production and increase their earnings.
The President also praised the Parish Development Model, saying it continues to help communities move out of poverty with support from OWC.
He thanked the Government of Japan for supporting Uganda’s agricultural sector and wider economic development.
Agriculture State Minister for Animal Industry Bright Rwamirama said OWC has strengthened the ministry’s work through programmes that support smallholder farmers.
Representing OWC Chief Coordinator Salim Saleh, Brig Gen G.K. Muwanguzi encouraged Ugandans to invest in agriculture as a reliable path to wealth creation. He said farmers can obtain quality planting materials, value-addition technologies and modern farming solutions through OWC to improve productivity and incomes.
The ceremony attracted government officials, diplomats, farmers, exhibitors, development partners and other stakeholders from the agricultural sector.
