The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Air Force has decorated 54 newly promoted senior and junior officers at the Air Force Headquarters in Entebbe.
The ceremony recognized the officers for their distinguished military service, operational discipline, and loyalty to the armed forces.
The Commander Air Force, Lieutenant General Charles Okidi, reminded the newly ranked commanders that elevated positions demand greater institutional accountability.
“Promotion is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a higher calling,” Lt Gen Okidi said.
He warned the officers against engaging in corruption, noting that unethical conduct destroys professional careers and undermines operational readiness.
“Lead by example. Impress others through your actions and inspire them to work harder to get where you are,” he added.
The Chief of Staff Air Force, Brig Gen James Itungo, challenged the officers to lead through inspiration rather than coercion.
“The higher you rise, the further you must see,” Brig Gen Itungo said.
Speaking on behalf of the decorated personnel, Lt Col Amos Mugisha thanked the Commander-in-Chief and the UPDF high command for recognizing their sacrifice and service.
Lt Col Mugisha affirmed that the new ranks represent a deeper patriotic obligation to defend the nation.
Air Force directorate heads, senior commanders, and staff officers witnessed the pipping ceremony.
