The newly elected Speaker of the 12th Parliament, Jacob Oboth-Oboth, has vowed to restore the integrity of the
legislature, promising to preside over a House free of the corruption that plagued the previous administration.
Speaking shortly after his election, Oboth-Oboth emphasized that the 12th Parliament will lead by example to effectively execute its national oversight duties.
He contrasted his vision with the scandals of the 11th Parliament under former Speaker Anita Among, who is currently under investigation for corruption, abuse of office, and the illicit accumulation of wealth.
Oboth-Oboth also expressed gratitude to the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) for its endorsement.
His landslide victory follows an early, decisive endorsement by PLU Chairman
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who was the first to publicly rally the influential civic bloc behind Oboth-Oboth's candidacy.
