Uganda Airlines announced announced Monday it had signed an agreement with Airbus, the European multinational aerospace corporation, to provide repair and maintenance services.
"We have signed a Flight Hour Services Agreement with Airbus," the national carrier tweeted in the afternoon, saying the deal was inked by Mikhail Houri, Airbus President for Africa and Jenifer Bamuturaki, the Uganda Airlines chief executive.
Airbus Flight Hour Services is a comprehensive material and maintenance service based on a contractual fixed hourly-rate payment.
The services offered range from component supply, engineering and repair up to fleet technical management and full airframe maintenance, with guarantees on parts’ availability up to Aircraft On-Time performance.
"Our A330-800neo fleet has secured its technical performance, safety, and integrated services like on-site engineering, repairs, and timely spare parts availability through this contract," reads an official statement.
"The Dubai Air show is our opportunity to share our commitment to clean flying with a long-term initiative of flying green and reducing our carbon footprint in the Aviation Industry, as depicted through the improved efficiency of our A330neo fleet."
Uganda Airlines operates a fleet of six planes, including two that are Airbus-made.
The development comes on the heels of the carrier securing direct flights to Europe and Middle East with landing slots at London Heathrow and Dubai International Airports.
Uganda Airlines is currently participating in the Dubai Air show at the Al Maktoum Airport (Dubai World Central-DWC).
Uganda Airlines will use the Air Show to draw on more growth opportunities, exploring more global beneficial partnerships that could practically offer reciprocal arrangements for growth in our aviation journey.
The Dubai Air show will bring together Global Aviation industry leaders in Aircraft manufacturing, Cargo handling and the entire Aviation supply chain.
