Uganda Ranks Among World's Top Outsourcing Destinations

trong English skills, affordable labour and a growing talent pool drove the ranking.

Uganda has ranked 24th globally in the 2026 Global Outsourcing Talent Index, strengthening its position as a leading outsourcing destination in Africa.

Uganda has secured a place among the world's leading outsourcing destinations after ranking 24th out of 193 countries in the 2026 Global Outsourcing Talent Index.

The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance announced the ranking on June 8, 2026, saying it places Uganda within the top 13 per cent of outsourcing destinations worldwide.

The assessment credited Uganda's performance to its affordable labour force, strong English language skills and an expanding pool of skilled workers.

Compiled by international staffing firm Ataraxis, the Global Outsourcing Talent Index evaluates countries based on labour costs, English proficiency, talent availability, digital infrastructure and the stability of their business, legal and political environments.

Uganda stood out in labour-cost competitiveness, where it ranked 12th globally. The country also posted strong results in English proficiency, a key factor for international firms seeking outsourcing hubs.

Within the East African Community, Uganda finished second behind Kenya. It also emerged as one of only seven African countries to make the global top 25.

The ranking is expected to boost Uganda's profile in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector and the wider digital services industry.

Dr Aminah Zawedde, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, said the recognition reflects the results of government efforts to expand digital infrastructure and equip Ugandans with relevant skills.

She said the ranking confirms progress made under the National BPO Policy and supports the country's ambitions within the digital economy.

Zawedde noted that further investment in digital systems and workforce development would strengthen Uganda's position and help attract more international business.

The latest recognition comes as Uganda seeks to market itself as a destination for companies looking for skilled, English-speaking workers at competitive costs.

Officials said the ranking signals Uganda's growing capacity to compete internationally and highlights its increasing importance in the global outsourcing industry.
