125 Ugandans will today return from the United States of America where they had been stranded due to suspension of passenger flights as part of the raft of measures instituted to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

According to the foreign affairs ministry, they will be joined in transit through Addis Ababa by other Ugandans and legal residents who were stranded in Canada, Russia, UK, Tokyo, Seoul, Canberra, and Geneva.

They flew from Washington Dulles International Airport aboard Ethiopian Airlines on August 17 and they are expected to arrive at Entebbe International Airport at 5pm.

This group was seen off by Deputy Chief of Mission Ambassador Santa Laker-Kinyera, accompanied by members of staff at the Uganda embassy in Washington, DC.

Uganda started repatriating her citizens on June 24 and over 3000 Ugandans have since returned.
