KCCA Honors Top Performing Schools in 2023 PLE

The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Directorate of Education honored the top-performing schools in the 2023 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) and the School Performance Assessment.

The event, held at Kampala Parents School last Friday, gathered head teachers from both government and private schools across Kampala City.

The 2023 PLE results highlighted a significant success rate, with 79.5% of Kampala students achieving excellent grades.

Among the outstanding performers were Nsambya Girls School, Kitante Primary School, and Nakasero Primary School, recognized as leading Universal Primary Education (UPE) schools.

In the private sector, schools such as Yudesi Primary School, Ebeneza Junior School in Kawempe, and Kampala Standard Primary School in Kyanja demonstrated exceptional academic achievements and were awarded certificates of excellence.

Dorothy Kisaka, the KCCA Executive Director, expressed her gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his empowering policy of free education.

She noted that this policy is actively implemented in the 79 UPE schools and 22 Universal Secondary Education (USE) schools under KCCA's jurisdiction.

"The commitment of our government to provide free education has been a cornerstone in our efforts to build a robust educational foundation for our children," Kisaka said.

Kampala is home to 1,986 schools spanning pre-primary, primary, and secondary levels.

The commitment to educational excellence demonstrated by KCCA and the honored schools sets a benchmark for future achievements.

“Education is the cornerstone of our nation’s development. The free education policy empowers every child, regardless of their background, to access quality education, and we are proud to be equipping our children with the tools they need to succeed,” Kisaka said.

Charles Maginot, the Director of Education and Social Services at KCCA, emphasized the Authority's commitment to further enhancing the skills and capacities of teachers.

"We are committed to enhancing the capacity of our educators through targeted training programs, ensuring they are equipped with the skills necessary to continue delivering high-quality education," Maginot said.

The event featured several KCCA directors and included remarkable presentations from students.

The atmosphere was one of celebration and inspiration, motivating educators and learners alike to continue striving for excellence in education.
