The National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), and World Vision Uganda have launched a digital learning project dubbed E-Class, targeting learners in 13 primary schools across Mpigi, Nakasongola, and Buikwe districts. It was launched at St. Kizito Primary School, Mpigi district.
The project aims to enhance access to quality education through technology by equipping schools with modern e-classroom facilities. Each classroom is fitted with interactive digital tools, including smart screens, tablets, and internet connectivity, enabling teachers and learners to access a wide range of online educational resources.
Jeremiah Nyagah, National Director of World Vision Uganda, described the project as a landmark partnership. “This initiative is the result of a strategic collaboration between World Vision Uganda, the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) through the Universal Services and Access Fund (UCUSAF), and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
Together, we have embarked on a shared mission to bridge the digital divide and transform the learning experience for Uganda’s most vulnerable children,” he said.
He added that the E-Class Project is more than a technology intervention. “It is a bold step toward equitable, inclusive, and future-ready education. By integrating digital tools into the classroom, we are enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, improving learner outcomes, and ensuring that no child is left behind in the digital age,” Nyagah noted.
UCC officials emphasized that the initiative is designed to prepare pupils for the future by exposing them to digital skills early. NSSF and World Vision Uganda reiterated their commitment to supporting education as a pathway to sustainable development, stressing that access to technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity.
The E-Class project is expected to benefit thousands of learners by fostering digital literacy and promoting equal opportunities in education. The initiative comes at a time when Uganda is prioritizing digital transformation as part of its Vision 2040 development agenda.
