The Minister of ICT and National Guidance Dr. Chris Baryomunsi said the committee has been tasked to focus on “mobilization for milk production and value addition”.

According to the minister, the committee will also encourage adoption of improved dairying practices and promotion of better marketing channels for milk and other dairy products in the country.

Sandra Mugenyi Mwebaze will forward views of the Dairy Value Chain Development (Animal Nutrition), Vivian Jane Tumwebaze (Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development), Dr. Juliet Sentumbwe (Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries) and Jane Francis Acholoi (Women's Dairy Cooperatives Society).

Uganda collected $205 million (about Shs730 billion) from exporting milk products in 2020, DDA, up from the $131.5m (Shs 466bn) picked up from the sector in 2018.

Milk production in the country has increased from 2.5 billion liters in 2018 to 2.8 billion liters in 2020, a rise that is attributed to the expansion of milk collection centers across the country.
