Ministry of Health says that this second wave will cover 28 districts most of whom are in Western Uganda. The districts will include; Buhweju, Bundibugyo, Bunyangabo, Bushenyi, Isingiro, Kabarole, Kakumiro. Rukungiri, Kabale, Kiruhura, Kazo, Rubanda, Kabalagala, Kanungu, Kasese, Kisoro, Kyankwanzi, Kiboga, Lyantonde, Mbarara, Mitooma, Nakaseke, Ntoroko, Ntungamo, Rubirizi, Rukiga, Rwampala and Sheema.

Malaria remains the biggest killer disease in Uganda’s population killing nearly 16 people every day. As a result, in June this year, Ministry of Health flagged off the logistical arm of the mosquito net campaign dubbed ‘Under the Net’ to distribute nets countrywide starting with the districts with the highest prevalence rate of malaria and districts that have been affected by floods.

Under Wave 1 which ended recently, 25 districts in Eastern and Northern Uganda received mosquito nets. Some of the districts include; Bududa, Bugiri, Kapchorwa, Alebtong, Amolatar, Soroti, Lira, Mbale, Kween etc.
