Museveni to Address the Nation Again as Covid19 Cases Reach 52

President Yoweri Museveni is set to address the nation again tomorrow (Tuesday) as numbers of coronavirus patients rise to 52.

The president announced his next national address after four more cases were confirmed on Sunday evening. “Greetings, I have received your comments and I will answer them on Tuesday. In the meantime, today the 5th of April, 2020, 300 samples were tested and four were positive. All the four were in quarantine,” the President said on Sunday evening.

According to a breakdown provided by the Director General Health Services, Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the new cases include; a 22 year old male, a resident of Kakokiro in Wakiso district. He arrived from Dubai on March 22. The other patient is a 66 year old female, a resident of Luzira, Kampala. She also arrived in the country from Dubai on March 22. The other two are; a 65 year old female, a resident of Jinja and a 26 year old male, a resident Rubaga, Kampala. The two also returned to Uganda from Dubai on March 22.

The four did not show any signs and symptoms of covid19 at the time of testing. Meanwhile according to Doctor Mwebesa, 377 individuals were discharged from institutional quarantine on Sunday, 602 remain under institutional quarantine, while 834 contacts to the confirmed cases are under follow up. The Director General Health Services reveals that all the confirmed cases are in stable condition at Mulago national specialized Hospital, Entebbe Grade B Hospital, Adjumani and Hoima Hospitals.

“Uganda has not registered any Covid-19 related death. The Ministry of Health continues to appeal to the population to remain calm but vigilant, practice the preventive measures and stay at home,” Dr. Mwebesa emphasized.

Presidential Address

Tomorrow’s address will be the 7th as the Head of state announces numerous measures intended to curtail spread of the highly contagious coronavirus. Among the measures announced in the previous presidential addresses is a ban on public transport, closure of schools, suspension of religious and other public gatherings and a night curfew among others.
