The Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi says religion is the cardinal spindle in human relations without which, even with stringent legal systems, society degenerates into chaos and confusion.

He observes that religion is a unifying influence of human grouping and urged Ugandans to appreciate and learn from each other and promote harmonious society coherence and co-existence values, which he says will facilitate unity and collaboration at all levels.

Ssekandi who was on Monday speaking at celebrations to mark 75 years of Lwaggulwe Catholic Parish in Masaka district, said respect for each other’s culture and beliefs will promote peace, harmony and stability in the country. He said that God has talented humans differently and the human strength can only be realized when the different capacities are put together for the common good.

Ssekandi urged Ugandans to appreciate each other’s strength than concentrating on the weaknesses only. He contributed two million shillings towards parish development and commended the church as an important partner in development and conduit for mindset change towards critical thinking.

Lwaggulwe Catholic Parish was established in1942. Masaka Diocese Bishop Severus Jjumba who led the mass commended the early believers and the Priests for their strong faith saying establishing Lwaggulwe Catholic Parish was challenging as the area was known for worshiping idols. He added that the practice has not been wiped out to date.
