The Tooro Kingdom has expressed interest in forging a stronger partnership with the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) ahead of the upcoming Tooro Annual Youth Conference and the celebrations marking King Oyo's Coronation Anniversary.
The commitment follows a courtesy visit on Thursday evening by a PLU delegation to the Prime Minister of Tooro Kingdom, Rt. Hon. Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire. The PLU team was led by Secretary General Hon. Twalla Fadil, accompanied by cadres Joash Abooki and Prillah Bagaaya.
Discussions centered on youth engagement within the kingdom, collaborative preparation for the upcoming youth conference, and alignment on the Empango celebrations. Both parties explored joint avenues to advance youth empowerment, practical skills development, innovation, and community participation.
Organized by the Tooro Kingdom Ministry of Youth and its partners, the Tooro Annual Youth Conference is a high-impact gathering bringing together hundreds of young people to focus on leadership, digital skilling, and local development. Past iterations have featured youth-led panels tackling economic empowerment, digital innovation, and environmental sustainability, drawing stakeholders from local government, civil society, and development partners.
The engagement comes at a historic moment for the kingdom. The Empango celebrations mark the coronation anniversary of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who ascended the throne in 1995 at just three years old. This 31st anniversary represents another major milestone for Tooro.
Welcoming the delegation, the Prime Minister praised the shared commitment to investing in Uganda's younger generation. Both sides agreed to translate these discussions into practical initiatives designed to benefit the people of Tooro and support the country's broader development goals.
