The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) will stage the second edition of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Interforces Drill Competitions from August 22 to 25, 2026, at the Kololo Ceremonial Ground in Kampala.
The military showcase runs under the theme: “Precision, Discipline and Cohesion: Pillars of National Resilience and Transformation,” building upon the inaugural contest held in May 2025.
The four-day tournament brings together 40 teams representing various UPDF services, formations, and operational units.
Participating contingents comprise senior and junior officers, warrant officers, and militants.

Addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Centre, Deputy Director of Defence Public Information, Colonel Henry Obbo, outlined the diverse military routines scheduled for the tournament.
Troops will compete in sword drills, crop-stick routines, pace-stick movements, cane-stick formations, and standard foot drills.

The competition aims to elevate military precision, sharpen operational readiness, and build inter-unit cohesion across the armed forces.
“This is going to be yet another entertaining moment that you should not miss to watch,” Colonel Obbo said.
Colonel Obbo urged the public to attend the free-entry tournament to foster stronger civil-military relations.
Beyond conventional parade movements, the event will feature creative performances, including theme-based synchronized formations, musical accompaniments, storytelling, and cultural dance elements.
