Colonel Anatoli Nuwagira has assumed office as the Director of Political Commissariat for the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Land Forces.
The change of leadership took place during a formal handover ceremony at the Land Forces Headquarters in Bombo.
Colonel Nuwagira succeeds Colonel Benon Asaba, who concluded his tour of duty at the helm of the directorate.
The Director of Human Resource Management (DHRM), Brig Gen Emmanuel Ewama Ayuk, presided over the handover.
Brig Gen Ewama challenged senior military leaders to maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and exemplary leadership.
He noted that the integrity and discipline of senior commanders directly shape the operational effectiveness of junior soldiers.

Brig Gen Ewama described the Political Commissariat as an essential pillar for deepening ideological training, troop morale, and political education across all military formations.
The outgoing director, Col Asaba, expressed gratitude to the army leadership for giving him the opportunity to steer the commissariat.
Col Asaba commended collaborating directorates for their institutional support throughout his tenure.
He expressed confidence that his team made measurable progress in cultivating conscious discipline and ideological clarity among service members.
In his acceptance address, Col Nuwagira pledged to consolidate the achievements of his predecessor.
He committed to expanding ideological orientation programs across the Land Forces to reinforce professionalism, unity, and discipline within the ranks.
Several senior military figures witnessed the transition, including the Director of Operations, the Director of Legal Services, the Director of Sensors, and other staff officers based at Bombo.
