As part of its commitment to bolstering Uganda's oil and gas sector, CNOOC Uganda Limited has introduced a free online Enterprise Development Program aimed at empowering Ugandan Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Running from 28th October to 7th November 2024, the initiative will equip SMEs with essential business skills to thrive in the oil and gas supply chain and beyond.

In partnership with Vectra Energies, the training program will provide practical insights into business management, regulatory compliance, and procurement processes specific to Uganda's oil industry. According to Liu Xiangdong, President of CNOOC Uganda, “Our goal is to build the capacity of local SMEs, preparing them to leverage emerging opportunities in the sector. This initiative is a step towards fostering local content and economic growth.”

The curriculum includes training in financial management, health and safety standards, and strategic business planning, addressing the needs of SMEs across various sectors. By the program’s conclusion, participants will gain skills aligned with industry standards, enhancing their capacity to secure contracts and deliver quality services.

“This program aims to empower SMEs with actionable strategies that promote sustainable growth and competitiveness,” remarked Eric Jumba, National Content Manager. Open to all Ugandan SMEs, participants can register through CNOOC Uganda’s website by 25th October 2024.
