President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed Ugandans to dismiss corrupt officials from the Parish Development Model (PDM) committees to safeguard the program’s goal of lifting communities out of poverty.
Speaking at a public rally at Kahunde Playground in Kagadi District, the President urged citizens to take full ownership of PDM and hold accountable those who mismanage it.
“You should own the PDM initiative right from its administration to its reach and take on whoever attempts to mess up the initiative because this is a unique program intended to enrich you at the grassroots,” he said.
Museveni also emphasized the government’s commitment to providing free education by establishing a primary school in every parish and a secondary school in every sub-county. He urged parents to report anyone charging fees in government schools, stating that free education is essential for reducing school dropouts among vulnerable children.
The President reaffirmed efforts to improve infrastructure, including roads, water supply, electricity, and healthcare. He also encouraged farmers to adopt modern agricultural practices such as irrigation to increase productivity.
On land evictions, Museveni instructed local authorities to report individuals illegally displacing tenants. He assured residents that land laws protect both landlords and tenants, allowing people to use their land for wealth creation without fear of eviction.
Additionally, the President ordered the State House Comptroller, Jane Barekye, to establish a new police station at Isunga Sub-county headquarters. He also directed the release of Shs300 million to Birembo War veterans and donated a fully equipped ambulance to Kagadi District Hospital.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja thanked the President for his continued support and infrastructure development in the Bunyoro sub-region.
