The National Planning Authority Uganda (NPA) has appointed Dr. Rogers Matte as Deputy Executive Director, filling a vacancy left by the retirement of the previous office holder.
The appointment was announced on April 1 at the Authority’s offices in Kampala.
Dr Matte, an economist and public policy expert, previously served as Senior Manager for Research and Development Performance at NPA, where he led research coordination, policy analysis, and performance monitoring.
He brings a wealth of experience to the role, having represented Ntoroko County in Parliament from 2001 to 2006 and later worked with the Population Secretariat on implementing the National Population Policy.
Dr Matte has also lectured in macroeconomics at Kyambogo University, contributing to academic and policy discourse.
NPA Manager for Information, Advocacy and Public Relations Charles Musana said the appointment comes at a critical time as the Authority oversees implementation of key government frameworks, including the Fourth National Development Plan and Vision 2040.
The NPA coordinates development planning in Uganda and has recently expanded its mandate to include population and physical planning.
In related changes, Winnie Nabiddo has been appointed Senior Manager for Research and Development Performance, alongside other adjustments in planning, evaluation, and communications.
Officials say the new appointments are expected to strengthen the Authority’s capacity to drive Uganda’s long-term development agenda.
