The Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda and Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has hailed 350 Members of Parliament who attended today’s thanksgiving ceremony organised by Defence Minister Jacob Oboth Oboth.
The message was delivered by the General Secretary of the Patriotic League of Uganda, Daudi Kabanda, in a post shared on X on Saturday evening.
“The PLU chairman hailed the MPs for attending the event. On behalf of my Chairman, General @mkainerugaba, I extend sincere gratitude to the over 350 Honourable Members of Parliament who turned up on short notice for Hon. Oboth Oboth’s thanksgiving ceremony at his home in Mukono,” Kabanda posted on X.
“This was a powerful show of the spirit that should guide our Parliament and our party.”
During the event held in Mukono, Kabanda assured Oboth Oboth that President Yoweri Museveni had endorsed him for the speakership.
Oboth was sworn in yesterday as Member of Parliament for West Budama Central.
Gen Kainerugaba, who is Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, had earlier said PLU would back any candidate endorsed by the President. He also said they would recommend a female deputy speaker.
