The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces has passed out 62 soldiers following their completion of the Maritime Basic Induction Course at the Maritime Sustainment Base Ntokolo in Magamaga, Mayuge District.
Joint Staff Training and Doctrine Brigadier General Wycliffe Keita officiated the pass-out ceremony. He highlighted the training as part of a strategic push to secure Uganda's water bodies and strengthen national defense capabilities.
Brig. Gen. Keita noted that the program aligns with the Chief of Defence Forces' training strategy aimed at developing operational readiness across all military arms.
"Your success on this course portrays your unwavering loyalty and commitment to serving your country," Brig. Gen. Keita said. "The skills you have acquired are another milestone not only in your individual professional journey but also for the UPDF as an institution."

He added that marine forces remain a critical component of Uganda's national security architecture.
"Marine forces constitute a critical component of Uganda’s defence architecture," Brig. Gen. Keita stated. "Your responsibilities go beyond safeguarding Uganda’s waters to securing vital national assets and infrastructure, while supporting joint land and air operations by facilitating mobility and enhancing our ability to respond rapidly to emerging security threats."
15 Marine Brigade Deputy Commander Colonel Eliason Kugumisiriza stated that the course brought together personnel from the Mountain Division, the Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security, and the 15 Marine Brigade to promote joint operational synergy.

Ntokolo Base Commandant Major Daniel Mwine Kaihura confirmed that the training combined technical classroom instruction with field drills and tactical exercises.
“The true measure of a soldier is not the course he has completed but the discipline he maintains, the lives he protects, and the honour with which he serves his country,” Maj. Kaihura said.
The ceremony awarded exceptional performers, recognizing Lt. Keith Rwashande as the overall best student, Pte. Mungulia Swaibu as best swimmer, Pte. Kiiza Paul for academic excellence, and Pte. Asiimwe Bridget for outstanding discipline.
