Uganda and India have reaffirmed their commitment to bilateral partnerships in digital financial infrastructure, technology transfer, and advanced forensic education.
President Yoweri K. Museveni hosted the outgoing High Commissioner of India to Uganda, H.E. Upender Singh Rawat, at State House Entebbe on Monday afternoon to mark the conclusion of the envoy's diplomatic tour.
The bilateral talks centered on expanding technical cooperation, with a focus on implementing Uganda's National Payment Switch and scaling cross-border technology transfers. Both leaders assessed joint strategic initiatives, including the National Forensic Sciences University campus in Jinja. The facility operates as the first overseas campus of India’s National Forensic Sciences University, boosting Uganda's institutional capacity in cyber forensics, criminal investigation, and national security management.
President Museveni commended the outgoing envoy for his diplomatic service and institutional contributions during his tenure.
"I wish him well as he concludes his tour of duty and thank him for his contribution to strengthening the friendship between Uganda and India," President Museveni stated.
President Museveni noted that both nations continue to register notable returns from high-level technical partnerships.
"We discussed strengthening Uganda-India cooperation in science, technology and digital transformation, including the National Payment Switch and technology transfer," President Museveni remarked. "I was also pleased with the progress of the National Forensic Sciences University in Jinja, established through our cooperation with India."
High Commissioner Rawat concludes his diplomatic assignment as bilateral engagements between Kampala and New Delhi expand into critical infrastructure and digital public finance.
