The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has rolled out its official endorsement campaign in Mbarara District to rally grassroots support for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba ahead of the 2031 general elections.
The mobilization exercise was launched by the PLU Deputy Director of Mobilisation, Hon. Henry Basaliza Mutegeki (Araali), drawing together civic, political, and community stakeholders from across the district.
The meeting convened local council representatives, religious heads, security personnel, National Resistance Movement (NRM) grassroots executives, and designated Patriotic Officers (POs).
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Basaliza outlined the ideological roots and historical growth of the Patriotic League of Uganda, explaining that the organization remains committed to driving youth empowerment, national cohesion, and socio-economic transformation.
Hon. Basaliza commended Gen. Kainerugaba for his continuous service to national defense and stability, calling upon mobilisers in Mbarara to aggressively drive the signature collection exercise to contribute toward the national target of over 20 million signatures.
He highlighted that the mass signature campaign serves as an empirical demonstration of support for Gen. Kainerugaba’s post-2026 political vision and the wider "2031 and Beyond" national transition agenda.
Hon. Basaliza urged all coordinators and supporters to mirror the core tenets of the PLU, which include patriotism, discipline, national unity, selfless service, and institutional integrity.
He also paid tribute to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for sustaining long-term peace and socio-economic infrastructure across the country, wishing him continued health and leadership following his 82nd birthday celebrations.
The launch in Mbarara expands PLU’s ongoing nationwide endorsement initiative, which integrates door-to-door community signature drives alongside a recently launched digital endorsement platform across western, central, northern, and eastern Uganda.
