Media Personality Tracy Kababiito and filmmaker Nana Kagga will no longer play roles in the Multichoice-sponsored TV shows they were acting in after they failed to harmonize with their bosses on contract renewal.

Kababiito, who joined the television series, following departure from ‘NTV the Beat’, played a lead role in ‘Sanyu’, which Multichoice recently said was the most-watched among the locally produced series.

Kagga, who has been in the film industry for several years, played Jasmine in the ‘Prestige’ TV series, whose plot centers around the ruthless competition in the advertising industry.

MultiChoice Uganda on Monday released a statement announcing replacements.

Sally Elizabeth Bwamimpeke will take over from Nana Kagga while Catherine Namugenyi replaces Kababiito.

“It is with regret to announce that they were unable to reach an arrangement that deemed favorable for both parties. Pearl Magic Prime remains committed to bringing the best in local programming to viewers and maintaining a great content offering,” reads the statement.

“The Channel is also excited to give more actors and young talent an opportunity through the appointment of Catherine Namugenyi who will take on the leading role of Sanyu.”

The replacements commence work on June 28. Both TV shows had already kicked off production for the second seasons and Joan Semanda Kizza, the Multichoice Uganda spokesperson, says the departure of the two actors won’t affect work that had already been shot.

Kababiito declined to comment on the contract details over the phone, but confirmed that failure to agree on new terms led to her departure.

We were not able to reach Kagga for comment.

‘Sanyu’ and ‘Prestige’, which launched in February this year, air exclusively on Pearl Magic Prime every Monday to Friday at 8:00pm and 8:30pm respectively.
