UPDF Hails Female Soldiers for Outstanding Performance in South Sudan

Female UPDF soldiers in South Sudan have been commended for discipline, skill and their growing role in peace operations

Female soldiers serving under Operation Mlinzi wa Kimya in South Sudan have been praised for their discipline and strong performance.

Joint Taskforce Commander Anthony Mbuusi Lugwago commended the troops for supporting peace and stability efforts in South Sudan.

Lugwago said female soldiers had shown resilience and skill during training and field duties. He said their performance in range exercises and other drills showed their growing role in the army.

“Through their performance and determination, they have shown that what male soldiers can do, female soldiers can also do,” he said.

Lugwago thanked the UPDF leadership for supporting the mission. He cited President Yoweri Museveni, Chief of Defence Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba and Commander Land Force Kayanja Muhanga for backing deployed troops.

Carol Basaliza, the head of women affairs in the Land Force, urged the female soldiers to keep high levels of discipline. She said serving outside Uganda required conduct that reflected UPDF values.

Basaliza also thanked the army leadership for creating more space for women in the force. She said their role strengthens the army and inspires other women who want to serve.

Senior and junior officers serving under Operation Mlinzi wa Kimya attended the event.
