President Yoweri Museveni will grace the official launch of the CHAN 2024 Uganda Chapter this Friday, July 25, at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
The President was invited by the Local Organising Committee Chairperson, Janet Museveni, the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports.
Peter Ogwang, the Minister of State for Education and Sports, said in a post on X: "This high-level continental event marks a significant milestone in our sports tourism sector and sets the stage for the prestigious #AFCON2027, which will be hosted on Ugandan soil for the first time ever."
Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania will co-host the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in August 2025.
The tournament will feature 19 countries (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan, Guinea, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Morocco, Central African Republic, Congo, DR Congo, Angola, Zambia, Madagascar and defending champions Senegal).
The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 2 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Nairobi's Kasarani Stadium, which has undergone extensive renovations thanks to significant investment from the Kenyan Government, is set to host the final match of the competition on August 30, 2025.
