New Counties

Parliament has on Thursday approved the creation of 46 new counties. 

Minister of Local Government Raphael Magyezi tabled the motion for resolution of Parliament for creation of new counties under article 179 of the Constitution. 

Cabinet sitting on Monday has approved the creation of 31 more counties. This brings the total number of new counties to 46.

The motion for consideration of new counties has been deferred amidst rising tension among interested parties.
