Peter Kahiigi, the former director of eGovernment services at the National Information Technology Authority Uganda (NITA-U) has been appointed by Centenary Group as Cente-Tech’s Chief Technology Officer.

In 2020, Kahiigi quit NITA-U to join the University of Oxford in the U.K where had been hired as an expert at the Global Centre for Cyber Security.

In addition to Centenary Bank, Centenary Group recently started a technology company called Centenary Technology Services Ltd. (Cente-Tech) which will now be headed by Kahiigi as the Chief Technology Officer. He joins Dr. Grace Ssekakubo, a seasoned IT Specialist, at Cente-Tech’s helm.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Centenary Group says that Kahiigi’s appointment is premised on his wealth of experience spanning over 10 years and that his input would accelerate Centenary Group’s technology growth strategy.

“He is expected to provide strategic leadership in the development of technologically innovative solutions for Cente-Tech’s clients,” the statement reads. While at NITA-U, Kahiigi was heralded for the nation’s incredible progress in the digitization effort. He was the cornerstone for the revival and expansion of the National fibre optic backbone, development & deepening of e-services.

The current appreciation and inclusion of ICT as a development pillar in the National Development Plan III is partly attributed to Peter’s efforts. Currently is an expert with Oxford University’s Global Center for Cyber Security.
