UPC Stalwart Joseph Bbosa Dies in The Hague
The former Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party vice President Joseph Bossa is dead.
The announcement was made by the Judiciary Spokesperson, Solomon Muyita who said that Bossa breathed his last in The Hague, Netherlands.
Bossa has also been the husband to the International Criminal Court- ICC Judge, Salome Balungi Bossa
"We regret to announce the sudden passing of Mr. Joseph Bossa, the husband to the Hon. Lady Justice Solome Balungi Bossa of the International Criminal Court, which occurred in The Hague, Netherlands," reads Muyita's message on WhatsApp.
According to Muyita, the funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
The cause of death has not been made public but Mr Bossa has been battling ill health for months.
In May 2016, Otunnu handed over the leadership of UPC to Bossa but the transition was sabotaged and derailed when Jimmy Akena, the Lira Municipality MP, claimed he was the rightful president of the party.
The Vice President of the otunnu faction Mr Peter Walubiri has said described Bbosa's death as a big blow to the country and the legal fraternity at large.
“It’s very sad because Mr Bbosa has been trying to sort out issues of the party and he had died at a critical time when the country needs resourceful people like him,” Walubiri said.
