President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged Uganda’s backing for Angola’s candidate to lead the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The President announced the decision following a diplomatic meeting at Kisozi Farm. During the visit, he hosted Angola’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Téte António. The visiting minister delivered a special message from Angolan President João Lourenço.
The bilateral discussions centered primarily on Josefa Sacko's bid for the position of FAO Director-General.
Following the meeting, Museveni emphasized the critical need for continental unity during global leadership selections. He confirmed Uganda's voting position and highlighted the strategic importance of cooperation.
"We shall support Angola’s candidature because African solidarity is crucial in advancing our shared interests," Museveni stated.
The Ugandan leader urged other nations across the continent to unite on international platforms.
"Africans must continue standing together and supporting one another on issues of strategic importance to our continent," Museveni added.
This joint effort aims to amplify Africa's decision-making voice in prominent international bodies.
