Uganda Eyes New Export Deals at Major Trade Show in China

Uganda is seeking new buyers for its coffee, cocoa, tea and crafts at China’s 140th Canton Fair, where its delegation hopes to turn early business contacts into export deals.

Ambassador Judyth “Juju” Nsababera, Uganda’s Consul General in Guangzhou, said the opening day produced promising connections with potential partners. She did not announce any signed contracts or disclose the value of prospective business.

The Uganda Pavilion features coffee, tea, cocoa, shea butter and crafts. The delegation is also sharing the stories of the producers and communities behind the goods.

Nsababera said the exhibition offers Ugandan businesses a chance to find buyers in China and other international markets.

“Every conversation is a chance to build a new partnership, open a market or help more people discover what Uganda has to offer,” she said after the first day.

The delegation is discussing sourcing opportunities, exploring partnerships and identifying markets that could increase sales for Ugandan producers and exporters.

Uganda is participating in the fair’s third phase, which runs from October 31 to November 4, 2026, under the theme “Better Life”.

According to information supplied about the event, this phase brings together more than 12,000 exhibitors across 515,000 square metres. It includes 25,000 booths and 21 exhibition zones covering products such as clothing, home textiles, toys, health goods and stationery.

For Ugandan businesses, the gathering offers access to potential customers and a chance to understand their requirements. Those discussions could help exporters assess demand and prepare products for overseas markets.

Nsababera urged visitors to meet the Ugandan team at Hall 11.2, booths J34–35 and K13–14.

The delegation will continue meeting potential buyers and business partners until the exhibition closes on November 4. Its next test will be converting those contacts into orders for Ugandan goods.
